123 - See Ya on the AT

A few weeks ago, Krisha added Frank to the emergency contacts on her phone. She was at a restaurant when her phone started acting weird. The phone sent an emergency message to the four people on Krisha’s list, including Frank and the friend with whom Krisha was having lunch.

The phone sent two photos and an audio message to Krisha’s emergency contacts. Other than the friend who was with her, the emergency contacts checked in with Krisha to make sure she was alright. One friend was especially concerned and needed to be reassured.

It’s T.A.C.O. Tuesday when Krisha & Frank Talk About Content Out of a basket. Today’s topic is: “What is your bug-out plan for the apocalypse?” They decide to focus on a sci-fi movie type of apocalypse instead of a Biblical apocalypse or a zombie apocalypse.

Krisha doubts she would survive an apocalypse like the ones in asteroid movies. She has looked up the radiation zones based on distance from Oak Ridge National Lab. Frank recalls the movie Blast from the Past which was about a family with a fallout shelter.

122 - That’s a Surprise

Krisha & Frank are back on the set after posting some leftover footage on Friday’s show. They had recorded an adventure at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park in January but couldn’t use most of it due to sound issues. On the ride downhill Frank meant to say, “Is it a sign of mental illness if you smell things that aren’t there?” but left off “that aren’t there.”

Krisha had her first performance as Ma McCoy on Thursday. She was nervous before going on stage. While delivering her first line, she realized her microphone was not on. She was able to forget about her nervousness and focus on getting her microphone batteries replaced. She went on to have a great performance.

Krisha showed up to surprise Frank’s wife for her birthday. Krisha brought cupcakes, flowers, and a balloon. She arrived at the same time as a crew of workmen who were there to install a fence.

One year Jere challenged Frank to throw her a surprise party. Her best friend from high school announced she was coming to town for the surprise party. Frank orchestrated the surprise by having a party the night before Jere’s birthday and by having her parents fly in for it too.

Another year, Frank surprised Jere by taking her out to dinner and having the kids take the Megabus to Knoxville and show up at the restaurant.

Spring Cleaning

Today’s episode consists of some leftover footage that is taking up too much storage space on Frank’s iPad. We either had to upload it to YouTube or delete it forever. We will post a new See More Smokies video tomorrow. Our regular shows resume Monday.

On the first day of shooting for See More Smokies, Krisha & Frank went to Gatlinburg SkyLift Park. Most of the footage was unusable due to the wind gusts that day. Since then, Krisha & Frank have used advertising revenue and viewer donations to buy a better camera and microphones.

After recording an episode at Alewine Pottery, Krisha & Frank stopped for lunch at a gas station on Pittman Center Road at Jayell Road. Frank had discovered Krispy Krunchy Chicken at the gas station several years ago. Since then, a 2017 article in Thrillist called it America’s best fried chicken chain. 121 - Respecting Boundaries

Frank mentions the Californians as an excuse to hear Krisha’s California accent. His new neighbor has had the property line surveyed in order to install a new fence for his dogs.

Next-door neighbor Nancy spotted a bird that made a hole in the wood siding on Frank’s house. Frank thinks there might be two different birds that have turned his house into their birdhouse.

Frank contacted a home improvement contractor. The guy said Frank’s name seemed familiar. Frank responded that his wife Jere was the singer at the funeral for the contractor’s mother.

Krisha went to a bar to play trivia. She sat near a well-dressed older woman who was not playing the trivia game. An attractive waitress with a full sleeve tattoo on one arm came to take drink orders. The older woman asked the waitress, “Why do you have all of those?”

Krisha has several tattoos but thinks she might be done. One exception is to make good on an old promise to get a Stormtrooper on her rear if her friend remembers the promise and pays for the tattoo.

120 - Leprechaun Job

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Krisha & Frank practice their Irish accents. Frank says his Irish brogue got better by listening to his friend Fr. Michael Woods. Frank and his wife Jere visited Fr. Michael’s hometown in Ireland where they met Fr. Michael’s brother Kevin, who is a self-proclaimed leprechaun whisperer.

Frank and Jere visited the leprechaun cavern at the Shalom B&B in Carlingford. Kevin starts the tour by warning the group that everything he tells them will be a lie but they eat it up anyway. Here is the website: http://www.thelastleprechaunsofireland.com/

Krisha had a mishap at the mall. She was lost in thought on the escalator and face-planted when she reached the top. Frank gets an uncomfortable feeling as Krisha describes falling. Krisha accidentally licked a finger after using that hand to rub on some muscle liniment.

119 - Reveal McCoy

Krisha & Frank are still reeling from seeing their logo on a pair of jogging pants. They originally thought it might be funny to design the pants that way.

Krisha has a new job as an actress at the Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud and Dolly Parton's Stampede Dinner Attraction. Both shows are located in Pigeon Forge. Her main role is to be the “Ma McCoy swing.” She wants to lose 5 pounds to be able to add another role that involves stunts.

Actresses who portray Peter Pan in a play or Tinker Bell at Walt Disney World have to be under a certain weight. Krisha is hoping to get a role that involves some aerial work.

On the night before her call-back audition, Krisha contacted Frank’s wife for some singing coaching. Jere told her to approach the note from above.

Today is T.A.C.O. Tuesday and Krisha & Frank Talk About Content Out of a basket. Today’s question is “What is your favorite salad dressing?” Frank is discouraged that the dressings he likes have too much high-fructose corn syrup.

Krisha likes O’Charley’s ranch dressing and Olive Garden Signature Italian dressing. Frank’s parents liked Wishbone Italian dressing. Krisha’s granny liked Catalina dressing.

118 - Underpass Ahead

Krisha is shimmying her shoulders to a song from Team Umizoomi. She had looked it up because Frank’s grandsons watched an episode with a ghost family. Artie wanted to know what made the kid ghost die. Frank wonders how Casper the Friendly Ghost died. In the 1995 movie version, Casper died of pneumonia.

Frank and his wife Jere bought a pair of Krisha & Frank jogging pants as a birthday gift for Krisha. She models them to show how the arrow in the logo points to the underpass. Frank bought a Krisha & Frank sweatshirt as a birthday gift for Jere.

Krisha went outside to drink a smoothie and locked herself out of her house while wearing her bathrobe. The landlord’s caretaker could bring a key in about an hour but Krisha only had an hour before she had to leave for work at a brand new job. She unsuccessfully tried to break into the house. Frank read a news story about thieves stealing items from unlocked cars in Knoxville.

117 - Barking Meter

Krisha forgot to bring an on-camera outfit to work. Frank looked in his son’s old bedroom and found a child’s medium jacket for Krisha to wear. He also looked in his own closet and found a Brooks Brothers shirt he’s never worn.

Frank’s new neighbor has two dogs that bark a lot while on a trolley leash. The neighbor plans to fence in the yard so the dogs can roam. Frank struck up a conversation with a surveyor who was marking the property line.

Krisha suggests that Frank buy an ultrasonic remote to push every time the dogs bark. Frank gets hung up trying to figure out the diagonal of his pool using the formula a squared + b squared = c squared.

Krisha jokes that the remote might backfire and cause her to have a seizure or cause Frank to have a stroke or cause Frank’s wife to bark. Frank tells how Jere can be easily hypnotized. One time she fell under hypnosis while in the audience of a hypnotism show.

Krisha doesn’t believe in hypnosis. She recognized some actor friends who were paid to pretend they were hypnotized at a show on the midway of the fair.

There was an intern at KROQ named Big Tad who seemed to be very easily hypnotized. Hypnotist Tom Silver once re-hypnotized Tad over the phone.

116 - Cheeseburger in Paradox

In episode 96, Krisha told the story of going to a beer garden alone to hear musician Grady Milligan. Krisha first learned of Grady online when he was performing with Knox Brew Tours as they made food deliveries during the lockdown.

Krisha clicked “interested” on one of Grady’s recent Facebook events. He messaged her and asked Krisha to bring him two fast-food cheeseburgers. Krisha put the burgers in his guitar case with his other tips.

Frank is reminded of a singer-songwriter who dated his cousin. When they broke up, he wrote a song about her called “What a Waste of a Pretty Face.” Here is a video of him performing it: https://youtu.be/Q3W_dUZUWso

Frank “dad-armed” Krisha when a car in front of them stopped suddenly in Pigeon Forge. After recording a segment, they got “hangry” and went to a drive-through with a 2 for $6 mix-and-match special.

Krisha & Frank pulled into a parking space to eat their food. A family got into the minivan in the next space. As they backed out, Frank honked to get their attention because one of the teens had dropped his karate belt.

Frank is reminded of trying to eat a burger while driving with his friend Bean. He had to stop along the interstate to brush off the detritus from the burger. Frank is also reminded of meeting singer Jermaine Stewart who said he could only eat half of a Big Mac.
