115 - Work of Heart
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Krisha encountered a “Zumba Karen” when she participated in a fundraiser at Hey Bear Cafe. Frank keeps stalling in hopes of avoiding the topic Krisha has planned for the second half of the episode.
The Zumba-thon was in a large outdoor area. When some other women danced too close, Krisha dropped back as one would normally do in a dance class. At the end of a song, someone tapped her shoulder and said, “Ma’am…” while gesturing to indicate her personal space. The woman was in the last line and could have easily moved back.
Frank’s wife Jere told Krisha an embarrassing story about working in the same office as Frank’s mother. Jere’s roommates also worked in the office and were talking about Jere and her new fiance in front of Jere’s future mother-in-law. Frank reveals that on their first Valentine’s Day while dating, Frank gave Jere a photo of himself as a child.

114 - Bad Reception
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Krisha invited her Facebook friends to like the Krisha & Frank page. Frank invited 250 of the same people several months ago but many of them have responded to Krisha’s invitation instead.
Krisha was obsessed with radio as a teen. She would record songs on her boombox during Toddzilla’s “Star Wars'' feature. She eventually got a board-op job at a local station.
Frank used to get angry blog comments from a radio listener. Another of Frank’s regular listeners made a comment that was misinterpreted as a threat against a co-worker.
Krisha had fans who sent homemade food, which made her uncomfortable. Frank points out that broadcasters already get too much food from advertisers and other restaurants trying to get a free plug.
It’s T.A.C.O. (Talk About Content Out) of a Basket Tuesday. The topic chosen at random is “What is the first hard lesson you remember learning?”
Frank remembers going to a New York Mets game with his dad. There was a funny moment when a busty woman drew attention in the stands. Frank’s dad asked him to tell the anecdote at a dinner party. Frank bombed trying to tell the story and learned a hard lesson about comedic timing.
Frank realized that this podcast launched on September 21, which is the date mentioned in Earth Wind & Fire’s song “September.” Take that other podcasters!
Today’s episode is sponsored by BoneZones.com (don’t forget the S) where you can buy books and merchandise autographed by world-renowned forensic anthropologist Dr. Bill Bass. While supplies last, buy a t-shirt and a copy of either Art Bohanan’s Prints of a Man or Watauga for only $30.

113 - Pizza the Action
Monday Mar 08, 2021
Monday Mar 08, 2021
For Saturday’s travel vlog, Krisha & Frank visited Gatlinburg SkyLift Park for a second time. They had gone in January but the wind made the footage unusable. They have since purchased a better camera and microphones using money from advertisers.
In Saturday’s episode, Krisha noticed a pizza being sent up in a SkyLift chair. She says she can recognize the difference between brands of pizza by smell. If you want to send pizza money for Krisha to do a blind smell test, use PayPal to send money to KrishaAndFrank @gmail.com
Frank once went to a meetup of ex-New Yorkers to have pizza and Drake’s cakes. When he mentions the creamy filling, Krisha hits the cliche deejay bell. Frank says she gets to use it because her name is first on the show and because he is not a bell chauvinist.
At the meetup, they served pie from Brooklyn Pizza, which has since closed. The pizza chef now owns Little Nicky’s Pizza in Solway. Krisha wants to get some birthday cannolis from Little Nicky’s.
Frank is reminded of getting pizza with his dad at Columbus Circle after participating in an exercise program called “Saturday Morning Boys.” The boys would go to a calisthenics class followed by specialized classes in fencing, boxing, track, swimming, etc.
On her birthday, Krisha had a mani/pedi. Her fingernails were dipped. Frank stops her from showing her toenails on camera. He knows a young woman who gets creepy messages from guys asking to see her feet.
Krisha gets creepy direct messages from actual guys. Frank gets direct messages from fake accounts that use an attractive woman as the profile picture. Krisha & Frank both had to deal with unwanted messages from listeners when they worked in radio.
Today’s episode is sponsored by Steve’s Tree Service. They have excellent ratings on Facebook, Google, Yelp, and neighborhood apps. Steve’s Tree Service serves Knox, Sevier, Blount, Anderson, Loudon, and Jefferson Counties. Call 865-257-6214.

Friday Mar 05, 2021

Frank bought 45 rolls of toilet paper for Krisha while he was at Sam’s Club. The next day, they met near the Sunsphere to interview Kathryn Frady of Marble City Opera. Kathryn arrived just as Krisha was transferring the toilet paper from Frank’s car to her own.
Krisha’s kids use a lot of toilet paper. Frank admits to using too many paper towels. Krisha has stopped using Clorox wipes after reading a study that overuse of disinfectants only leaves the strongest germs that aren’t killed by the wipes.
Frank got a part time radio job. The station’s offices are inside the Sunsphere. Frank noticed some parking spaces that say “Reserved for Sunsphere clients.” He texted the owner of the radio station to ask permission to park in the company spot.
Kathryn noticed the “No Swimming / No Wading” signs at World’s Fair Park. Krisha told Kathryn about swimming in the water on the Fourth of July during a paddle-boat race while Frank did live play-by-play on WBIR.
Marble City Opera presents the world premiere of Royal Flush by Frank Pesci on March 11, 12, and 13, 2021 at the Tennessee Amphitheater in World’s Fair Park. The opera is a comedy about four sisters playing poker with their mother, who knows all their “tells.” Tickets are on sale at https://www.MarbleCityOpera.com/tickets

Thursday Mar 04, 2021
In between recording videos for See More Smokies, Krisha & Frank stopped off at Sweet Fanny Adams during their costume sale. It was reminiscent of being there for the Gatlinburg Improv Fest, which isn’t happening this year due to the pandemic.
Several friends who are improvisers posted about how much they will miss performing and socializing at the GIF. Daniel Leach of Blue Plate Special commented that he and Chris Graf wanted to start a fake morning show podcast. Frank replied that he and Krisha prove that it’s not that hard to do a fake morning show podcast.
When Krisha leaves after a show, Frank still walks her out to her car and then goes to check the mail. Instead of walking down the driveway, he walks across the lawn so that Krisha doesn’t have to watch out for him while backing up. She says that Frank doesn’t look as she waves goodbye.
Krisha went to the mall to get her Fitbit steps. Frank says he’s been to the mall more often for radio broadcasts than for shopping. Krisha found that if she walks the entire perimeter of the mall twice, including each department store, she can get 10,000 steps.
Some people are renting empty storefronts in the mall for pop-up shops. Krisha thinks she and Frank should build a podcast studio in a mall storefront. Frank read about a Vegas hotel that is building a podcast studio in the lobby.

Happy birthday Krisha! It feels like more than a year has gone by since her last birthday. Frank’s wife Jere surprises Krisha with a sprinkle doughnut that has a candle in it.
Krisha has a friend who plans to cook Knödel (or Knedle) as part of a Polish dinner for Krisha’s birthday. Frank and Jere are giving Krisha a pair of sweatpants with the Krisha & Frank Show logo on the seat.
Frank’s mom would always remind him that she was in labor for 30 hours. She even mentioned it on her deathbed in the hospice. Krisha was due on February 28 during a leap year. Her parents had to rush to the hospital during an ice storm when her mom went into labor.
Krisha went to the greenway on a nice day last week. She went for a run and climbed a tree. An older gentleman walking by said, “I don’t think you need to be up there.” The next time he passed, Krisha was splashing her bare feet in the creek.
Krisha likes to thank the creek before she leaves. She says water doesn’t ask where it’s going, it doesn’t care where it’s going, and it’s forever there but it’s forever moving and changing.

Frank’s mother’s cousin found the link to the show after wondering “what’s the woman’s name.” He bought a t-shirt to advertise Krisha & Frank at the gym. He had contacted Frank’s godmother, who contacted Frank’s sister, who contacted Frank.
Krisha cried when her friend asked what she wanted to do for her birthday. Last year, Krisha chose to spend her 40th birthday alone and this year wants it to be different.
On Saturday, Krisha & Frank posted a fun video of their trip to a boot store. Krisha mentioned the “Andy’s Coming Challenge” during the video. When Krisha fell over, Frank was reminded of the Jessie doll from Toy Story 2, which prompted him to yell, “Andy’s coming” and Krisha played dead.
While driving to Pigeon Forge, Krisha mentioned something personal and Frank asked a follow-up question, which led to a conversation that would have to be saved for a paid subscription podcast.
Today is T.A.C.O. (Talk About Content Out) of a Basket Tuesday. The topic sent in via text or email is “aromas that bring back interesting memories.” Krisha sometimes smells something that reminds her of the dance studio where she studied as a child.
Some perfumes and colognes remind Krisha & Frank of older relatives. Frank likes the smell as you get closer to the ocean, especially in the Hamptons.

108 - Nobody Cares!
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Monday Mar 01, 2021
Happy new month! Today is Krisha’s birthday eve eve.
Krisha asks Frank how he learned to drive a stick shift. He got a job driving the WEZR / AAA Public Service Vehicle. On his first day, he discovered that the jeep had a stick shift and he had to learn on the spot.
Krisha’s current car has a stick. Krisha’s parents had stick shift cars. She also drove the VW Thing that belonged to Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre. Last week, one of her friends asked her for a lesson.
How much do other people notice you on the road? Krisha felt self-conscious about how fast her windshield wipers were going. She then realized that other drivers don’t care about her wipers.
It’s hard to get a good screenshot from the show. When one is smiling and listening, the other one is telling a funny story and making a strange face.

107 - Costume Raider
Friday Feb 26, 2021
Friday Feb 26, 2021
Frank and his wife Jere had some palm fronds from several Palm Sundays around the house. Some were in a vase, some were tucked behind a framed picture. A few months ago, Frank placed them in the barbeque grill. He and Jere forgot about them until this past weekend when they opened the grill to smoke some chicken.
Krisha saves dead flowers, which causes Frank to mention Morticia Addams. He compares Morticia to Lily Munster.
Krisha purchased some costumes from Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre. The theatre had its last performance on December 31 and is now selling all the props, fixtures, and costumes.
Frank was hoping to buy a tuxedo but he realized that the actors who wore them to perform are very skinny. He tried on some loud sport jackets and a bandleader costume that also looks like a circus ringleader costume.
Some of the costumes were purchased from the Ice Capades in the 1960s. Krisha wore a former Ice Capades dress in a show at Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre.
Fans of the theatre are buying some mementos and decor. Other performers and directors are buying costumes to be used in their future productions. Frank says it’s nice that the spirit of Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre will live on through those shows.
Krisha purchased some signs from the walls including “Please Wait to Be Seated” and “Please No Video.” The sale continues today and tomorrow.

106 - Caffeindish
Thursday Feb 25, 2021
Thursday Feb 25, 2021
Krisha bought some citrus and green-tea sparkling water and was surprised to see that it contains caffeine. She has cut back on drinking coffee. Frank admits that he is addicted to caffeine and will get a headache without it.
When Krisha got to “work” she noticed that Frank had two nearly identical coffee makers in the kitchen. He likes a Mr. Coffee model with a thermal carafe that keeps the coffee warm for 12 hours. He bought a newer model that connects to WiFi but it stopped working so he started using the older model again.
Krisha has a very cheap coffee maker with a timer. She knows she wants to get up to see tomorrow if she sets the timer on her coffee maker.
Krisha says she “stepped in it” when she showed her tap shoes on the show and said she would tap loudly outside her neighbor’s house. Her neighbor watched the show and thought that Krisha was very upset about the noise through the walls. Krisha had to explain that she wasn’t mad and was joking about tap dancing early in the morning.
