105 - Hike Check
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Before starting a hike, Krisha texted Frank to tell him where she was going. Krisha has made Frank one of her emergency contacts and wanted him to know her whereabouts. Frank wants to know how long to wait before calling the police. Or should he drive to the scene?
You can set up your phone to call or text your emergency contacts. Check the settings on your device. Most phones will notify your emergency contacts when you press the power button five times rapidly.
Frank puts his foot in his mouth when he says he’s happy to be Krisha’s emergency contact because this show means the world to him. He wonders if he is now obligated to make Krisha his emergency contact.
Frank’s wife Jere wanted to win a Valentine’s prize at her job. They had a contest for the cheesiest clean pick-up lines. Jere asked Frank to submit some cheesy pick-up lines because the improv troupe Einstein Simplified plays games called “Pick-Up Lines” and “Pick-Up Artist.” Frank misses performing improv on stage.

104 - Stick It Out
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Frank accompanied his wife to Greene County for her to receive the vaccine. They were in the car for 4 hours before being able to take a bathroom break. In hindsight, they should have found a bathroom before getting into the drive-through vaccine line.
Today is T.A.C.O. Tuesday. Krisha & Frank Talk About Content Out of a basket. Today’s topic is songs you remember from your childhood or your children’s childhoods. Krisha recalls “A Tooty Ta” and a song about someone who works in a button factory. Frank remembers “Why Does the Sun Shine?” from the Tom Glazer and Dottie Evans album titled Space Songs. You can buy Space Songs at this link: https://amzn.to/3dwSpqa
They Might Be Giants recorded a cover version of “Why Does the Sun Shine?” for their 1993 EP, which you can buy at this link: https://amzn.to/3btl4tE. Krisha likes their song “Alphabet of Nations,” which makes Frank think of “Wakko’s America” and “Yakko’s World” by the Animaniacs. Krisha starts singing “The Song that Doesn’t End” from Lamb Chop’s Play-Along followed by “I Can Sing a Rainbow.”

103 - Dental Toss
Monday Feb 22, 2021
Monday Feb 22, 2021
One of Frank’s relatives lost the link to watch the show on YouTube. He sent a message to Frank’s godmother, who forwarded it to Frank’s sister. The message asked, “What’s the woman’s name?”
Krisha went to the dentist for a painful procedure on the same day that Frank started a part-time job on a local radio station. There was a classic miscommunication when Krisha texted Frank right after his first “break” on the air.
Frank’s wife Jere sent Krisha a text telling her to ask Frank about his wedding ring. Frank was convinced that he dropped his ring into the couch and was worried that he would have to tear the couch apart. Frank bought the comfort-fit ring during the O.J. Simpson slow-speed chase.

102 - Two M Jimm
Friday Feb 19, 2021
Friday Feb 19, 2021
Krisha is trying to cure a headache by blowing a hair dryer toward her nose. Frank had read an article suggesting it as a remedy. Krisha’s headache may have been caused by the lack of running water at her house. She washed her hair with cold water from the Brita dispenser in her refrigerator.
Krisha went to pick up dinner at a favorite restaurant. She had to wait in the bar for her food to be ready. Two men sat on either side of her, one of whom was drunk. The drunk man touched Krisha, spilled his drink, and tried to get Krisha to give him her number. The sober man noticed the scenario and made sure Krisha got to her car safely.
Krisha alluded to Patrick Swayze, which reminds Frank of the time Swayze came to WAVA for an interview to promote “She’s Like the Wind.” Swayze spent most of his time at the station with his head down on a desk.
Krisha interviewed Garth Brooks on a day he was sick. She gave him an Emergen-C and during the entire interview Trisha Yearwood was loudly shaking the water bottle to mix in the Emergen-C powder.
Krisha & Frank will send a prize pack to their 500th subscriber, assuming the person doesn’t hide their subscriptions.

101 - Peep Wrangler
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
It’s the day after Ash Wednesday. At Frank’s church, they used cotton balls to apply ashes to the parishioners’ foreheads. Last year the lockdown started after Ash Wednesday.
Krisha mentions Marshmallow Peeps, which causes Frank to go on about his love of Peeps. Krisha’s stepmother prefers stale Peeps. Frank likes to roast Peeps over an open flame.
Frank read about a Peeps shortage due to a production shutdown during the lockdown. Krisha finds Frank’s stash of Peeps. When he saw a package of 45 Peeps at Sam’s Club, he took a photo to send to former local TV news anchor Kristin Farley, who also loves Peeps.
Krisha has been ranking the greenways that she prefers. The Third Creek Greenway is “mixed use,” meaning that runners have to share the path with bicyclists. Krisha says the cyclists dress and act like they are in the Tour de France. They seem to get irritated by pedestrians, dog-walkers, and runners being in their way.
Krisha & Frank will send a prize package to their 500th YouTube subscriber. Get your friends to subscribe and split the prize with them if they win.

100 - Insecurity Breach
Wednesday Feb 17, 2021
Wednesday Feb 17, 2021
Krisha went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras on her 20th birthday. Frank went to New Orleans a few times in August for a radio convention. They clear the streets at midnight as the day changes from Mardi Gras to Ash Wednesday.
Krisha has been binge-watching Survivor on Hulu. In one episode, a contestant in his 70s ate too much red meat after winning a reward and then had trouble with his excretory system. As she was watching the man talk about his problem, Krisha had a small accident. Frank is mildly proud that he can still make two family members laugh hard enough that they have to rush to the bathroom.
Frank has a theory that insecure people are funnier than secure people because insecure people often use comedy as a coping mechanism. The issue came up because Krisha has insecurities about her teeth. She asks if Frank would give away his ability to make people laugh in exchange for no longer feeling insecure.
Krisha gets teary at the thought of giving up laughing with people. Frank compares getting a laugh from friends or from an audience to someone taking their foot off your oxygen tube for a few seconds.

099 - I 40 Clog Time
Tuesday Feb 16, 2021
Tuesday Feb 16, 2021
Krisha & Frank bought fancy clip-on microphones for their YouTube videos. Frank jokes that Krisha should get Mardi Gras beads for her struggle to adjust the mic today.
Krisha found her old tap shoes and is thinking of practicing early in the morning after her duplex neighbors have a late and loud party. She explains to Frank the difference between tap shoes and clogs. Their friend Amanda Marr used to perform clogging routines on Club Dance in the late ‘90s.
Two radio people have interviewed Frank for their autobiographies. Kevin Ryder asked Frank about some of the stunts on the old Kevin & Bean show at KROQ. Jeff Smulyan asked Frank about his days at WAVA and Power 106.
It’s T.A.C.O. (Talk About Content Out) of a basket Tuesday. Listener Aaron is trying to stop biting his fingernails and asks what habits other people are trying to break. Krisha had to wear a retainer with spikes to stop her from sucking her fingers as a child.
Krisha says the hardest habit to break is not asking for help. Frank says when a parent dies early, you might develop an assumption that you have to do things on your own.

098 - Keep on Firetruckin’
Monday Feb 15, 2021
Monday Feb 15, 2021
Today is Lundi Gras, which means Fat Monday. Krisha says now that Valentine’s Day is over, it’s time for Easter candy. She bought a Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg to share with Frank.
Someone yelled at Krisha in the parking lot of the Fellini Kroger. She walked behind a car that was in reverse. The driver cursed her out and other customers reacted to the scene.
Krisha & Frank are both looking forward to hot weather. Neither of them like the cold. Krisha also likes rainy weather.
Krisha noticed a bottle that looked like bourbon in Frank’s kitchen. Frank’s wife had purchased a 32-ounce bottle of maple syrup. Frank thinks it’s too much for just the two of them. Krisha has a theory of what Jere could do with all that syrup. She also thought that Frank might be planning a maple syrup and vinegar cleanse.

097 - Listing to Music
Friday Feb 12, 2021
Friday Feb 12, 2021
Krisha & Frank went to Alewine Pottery in Gatlinburg for tomorrow's See More Smokies video. Robert Alewine liked Krisha’s calm energy as she learned to make a bowl.
While they were driving to Gatlinburg, Krisha & Frank were talking about radio station playlists. Frank says it's more efficient to look online and read the playlist of two hours worth of songs in a few seconds. Krisha relates it to Frank reading about Groundhog Day on IMDB instead of just enjoying the movie.
Frank confesses to making a Spotify playlist of songs that he likes without ever taking the time to listen to it. Krisha makes playlists every week and listens to music almost all the time. Frank wants to make a playlist that cuts out the middle parts of songs.
Frank got a voicemail from an elderly relative who said “my bladder is ever so close to my eyeballs.” She was calling in reaction to reading a copy of Frank’s eulogy for his mother. Several of his parents’ friends wrote letters after reading the eulogy.
Frank’s wife Jere returns home from shopping but seems to be waiting in the garage for the episode to end. Frank starts to worry that she will get cold.

096 - Alone Guarantee
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
Krisha wants to make a cup of tea using the last teabag from the same box she used last week. Frank shows her that the “sell by” date on the box is 03/24/06. Frank wonders if his wife inherited the tea from her mother.
Krisha went to a socially distant performance at a beer garden. Upon arriving, she saw some people she would rather avoid. They invited her to sit with them. She declined and sat alone.
Krisha enjoys doing things alone such as going to a restaurant, brewery, or theatre. Frank doesn’t go out alone unless he is going to an event for work, where he would encounter other people. He can’t imagine avoiding people at a restaurant. If he wanted to be alone, he would stay home or order food to go.
Krisha will go to a movie alone. Frank’s wife Jere does that also. He can’t remember going to a movie alone since sneaking out to see Animal House on its opening day.
