095 - Right to the Underpass

Krisha wants to buy a pair of sweatpants with the Krisha & Frank logo. So far, her attempts at designing the pants have the logo’s arrow pointing in an awkward way.

Krisha bought some vitamins without noticing they were for men’s health. Frank says he has seen two kinds of men’s vitamins, one for stamina and one for metabolism. Krisha feels she gets tired more easily during pandemic times.

Frank and his next-door neighbor Nancy have a better view of the sunset because Frank had several trees removed.  While looking out the kitchen window, Frank saw two coyotes, one of which had only three legs.

Frank was worried that the coyote might harm the feral orange cat in the neighborhood. Nancy doesn’t want Krisha to adopt the orange cat. Nancy said she once had raccoons removed from her house.

Krisha’s high-school science teacher kept a baby possum in the classroom. Krisha does an impression of the possum. Frank likes the red-tailed hawks in his backyard. Krisha says to be on the lookout for barred owls during mating season. Krisha does an impression of the owls.

094 - Lumiere Supply

Krisha says she is a 2 on the “Enneagram of Personality.” She says that enneagrams, Myers–Briggs type indicators, and horoscopes are all the same thing. She is ENFP on the Myers-Briggs scale. Frank has never taken a personality test.

Frank recently joined a social media network called Clubhouse. Krisha says it sounds like the party line phone numbers she used to call as a teen. Frank says it reminded him of a corporate conference call or a seminar at a radio convention.

The first topic in the T.A.C.O. Tuesday basket is “candelabra.” Frank doesn’t know if he and Jere own a candelabra or not. He can remember the ones his mother owned. Jere tries to signal him but he misinterprets the message.

The next topic was “dream vacations you missed.” Krisha canceled a trip to New York City with her kids. Frank and Jere might have gone to the Hamptons if his mom hadn’t passed away. Theme parks in California and Florida have laid off many staff members.

093 - The Schwoo Phase

It’s Monday and Krisha & Frank are thinking about discount sushi. 

On Saturday, Krisha & Frank posted their first See More Smokies video. After visiting The Axe House Sevierville, they recorded themselves in the car because something smelled like wood. Krisha got wood chips in her hair and clothes.

Krisha has a hoop nose-ring instead of a stud. Frank deliberately floofs her hair again to see her earrings. Krisha says her newest tattoo and nose piercing are probably the last of her body modifications. Frank asks if she is done with her midlife “crisis.”

Krisha says “midlife crisis” is a cliche. She thinks of it as a transition and that she is now on the other side which she calls the “schwoo phase.” She read that you have to be responsible for the impact not the intent of your actions. She also read that action precedes motivation.

Frank and his wife watched some old DVDs including Groundhog Day. Frank was distracted by the bright sunlight at 6:00 a.m. in the movie. The actual time of sunrise in Punxsutawney on February 2 is 7:25 a.m. He then read more interesting trivia on IMDB.

092 - Little More Farm Girl

Krisha & Frank are wearing red shirts for the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day. Heart disease is the overall number-one killer of women in the United States. Frank makes the mistake of floofing Krisha’s hair while fixing the collar on her shirt.

Frank’s wife Jere repaired a cabinet hinge by putting a toothpick and glue in the hold stripped by the wood screw. Frank is aggravated about two tubes of strong glue that appear to have solidified. He and his wife only used each tube once. Krisha explains the mistake that Frank made with one of the glue dispensers.

Krisha sneezes loudly and Frank promises to add barnyard sound effects to her sneeze. Steve’s Tree Service sent some cool videos of trees coming down.

Krisha notices that Frank needs a haircut. He has a cowlick on the back of his head that his hair stylist will try to tame. Krisha is trying to train her hair to part in the middle. She says Frank is lucky to have a full head of hair. Frank has outlived his father by nine years. Krisha points out that Frank has a different lifestyle than his dad, uncle, or grandfather and should outlive them. 

Frank has a friend named Fran who started watching the Krisha & Frank Show on YouTube. She sent an email that Frank calls “Fran mail” with good suggestions for the show. Fran’s idea is for T.A.C.O. 091 - Loud Sourcing

Krisha needs advice. Her duplex neighbors had a loud party that kept her awake. Should she say something to them before their next party? Should she have said something during the last party?

Krisha briefly thought about waking up early and making loud noises in retaliation. Frank saw an Instagram post from Steve Lukather of Toto, who loudly blared his electric guitar in response to leaf-blower noise in his neighborhood.

Frank found an old candy bar in the freezer. The “use by” date was from four years ago. It was in a bag with a restaurant receipt from Panama City, Florida dated about five years ago. Frank and his wife have never been to Panama City. They can’t figure out how it got into the freezer.

090 - Ten-Year-Old Teabag

Krisha got a vintage faux-fur hat from her friends. She stayed off social media for a month, returning on February 1 to share posts about the Krisha & Frank Show and the partnership with SeeMoreSmokies.com. Krisha & Frank realize that some content they might have posted on social media is better off being saved for the podcast.

Krisha made tea when she arrived at the house. Frank can’t understand why he has so much tea in the house. He suspects that the tea Krisha is drinking has been in the house for many years. Krisha noticed that the microwave was still very clean.

Frank’s wife Jere had scrubbed the microwave two weeks ago in preparation for a visit from a WATE-TV cameraman. Frank has kept in clean by putting a paper plate over his food as he reheats it. He reuses the plate similar to the way his mother-in-law did.

Krisha had dinner with a friend but didn’t want to wash dishes and risk putting them away wrong. When Frank’s kids visit they sometimes put away kitchen utensils in different drawers.

Krisha went to Walmart to buy wiper blades. At the same time, Frank was in Sam’s Club and his wife was in Walmart. Krisha found Jere in the store to say hi. Frank was surprised that Krisha travels to the West Knoxville Walmart. She says shoppers are more likely to wear masks at that location. Frank says it’s because of the proximity to Trader Joe’s.

Frank was recently interviewed by Neal Michaels and John Ashton on The Approach Shot podcast. Krisha noticed that they mispronounced her name as “Kreeesha.” Frank thinks it’s because Amazon Alexa also mispronounces her name that way. Krisha rhymes with Tricia.

089 - Someone to Depends On

Happy Candlemas, also known as Groundhog Day. Krisha & Frank have redecorated the set for February, despite Frank’s original thought that it would be too mushy or gushy. Krisha tries to teach Frank to make a heart-shaped decoration from a chenille pipe cleaner.

Krisha believes in telling her friends that she loves them. A few years ago Frank was finally able to reciprocate. Krisha has a friend who believes that “I love you” should be reserved for romantic partners only. Frank says there are levels of love that are different. For example, parental love is not romantic love.

Krisha & Frank have a good working relationship behind the scenes, as they realized when emceeing the Pigeon Forge Chamber of Commerce Iron Awards. Frank whispered some advice to Krisha, which she found helpful. They have each emceed events with other co-hosts who are not supportive.

After the awards, Krisha went for a run on the greenway. Nature called but the restrooms were locked due to the pandemic. Over the summer, she had found some shrubbery that would conceal her while taking care of business. Unfortunately the shrubs were bare on that January afternoon.

Guys often go outside. Frank recalls some KLOS deejays who didn’t use the indoor bathrooms. Krisha says she can complete the task in less than 30 seconds. Frank is reminded of Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own.

A Tennessee state representative and a state senator introduced a bill to reduce the penalty for public urination but it looks like it hasn’t passed.

Happy New Month’s Day! Krisha & Frank have news to announce, which makes Frank glad that he will have a happy memory associated with February 1st. He broke his arm on this date twice during his teenage years.

On Friday’s show, they realized that Krisha needs a drawer or a cubby at Frank’s house, which is now their workplace. That prompted a conversation about leaving a shirt or toothbrush at a boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s house. What about exchanging keys?

Krisha had a midlife transition and is able to appreciate and forgive someone from a former relationship. She met her first husband when she was 17. She is now the most independent she’s ever been in her life. 

Frank didn’t change the decorations from snowflakes to Valentine hearts because he feared it would be too gushy. Krisha says she loved Valentine’s Day when she was a kid and to go ahead and put up the heart decorations for tomorrow.

087 - Are You Shivving Me?

Krisha & Frank are casually sipping from their new coffee mugs featuring the Krisha & Frank logo. The mugs and other merchandise is for sale at https://teespring.com/stores/KrishaAndFrank 

Krisha is wearing a new sweater that she bought in the kids section of a clothing store in the mall. Frank makes the mistake of mentioning that the sweater is not stretched out, like some of Krisha’s other sweaters. Krisha has temporarily changed the way she gets dressed because of her new tattoo. 

Krisha & Frank realize that Krisha needs a cubby or a locker “at work,” which is actually Frank’s house. He will talk to his wife about giving Krisha a drawer or space in a cabinet.

They used to joke that Krisha was allowed on the podcast porch but not in the house. Frank is reminded of several celebrities’ homes he visited while working at KLOS. All of the celebrities insisted that the radio interviews be conducted in the driveway or on the patio.

Krisha tells Frank that family members couldn’t send books to relatives in prison. The books had to be shipped directly from the publisher. Frank jokes that the policy prevented family members from hiding shivs in the books.

On Tuesday, Krisha & Frank hosted the Pigeon Forge Chamber of Commerce Iron Awards. Krisha wore pantyhose and a dress. Frank made sure that someone in the audience took a picture of her, since she went to all that trouble.

086 - Longth and Shorth of It

Artist Jody Collins designed the new Krisha & Frank logo using a shade of red from a Carol Burnett Show logo for the part surrounding Krisha’s name. Frank has said that Krisha reminds him of Carol Burnett. Someone else suggested that she resembles Imogene Coca.

Another friend thinks that Krisha’s doppelgänger is an actress named Phyllis Kirk. Krisha was inspired when learning that Morgan Freeman became successful in his 40s. Frank is inspired by the fact that Regis Philbin was almost 54 when he teamed up with Kathie Lee. Krisha wonders if Frank has a doppelgänger.

Krisha was running on a greenway and came across some rocks placed in the middle of the path. She was aggravated until she realized that the rock in the middle was actually a pile of dog droppings. Frank wonders why the dog used the center of the path rather than the grass.

Frank starts telling Krisha about the stray orange cat in the neighborhood when the camera battery dies. Krisha saw a post on Reddit about some Californians moving to Knoxville.
