084 - To Great Longths

Krisha & Frank are excited about their new logo, designed by local artist Jody Collins of Feral Giant. Krisha added the Bernie Sanders meme to the logo.

Krisha is excited about some milder weather in late January. Frank fears that it’s a setup and that a March snowstorm could still happen. They both recall where they were during the blizzard of 1993.

Frank tries to stifle an eructation. Krisha thinks it sounds like a made-up word. She measured a tripod to determine its “longth.” They enjoy her made-up word until Frank immediately regrets looking up the meaning of it in Australian slang. Don’t look.

Krisha likes to refer to 12:30 p.m. as “noon thirty.” Frank is reminded of the made-up word “heighth.” Frank enjoyed watching a movie on Netflix about the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary. It’s called The Professor and the Madman.

Krisha and Frank realize that podcast, vodcast, and vlog are all made-up words that describe their show.

083 - A Near Miss

Krisha had a dream that she ate someone’s magic mushroom cookies and that she lived in a hotel. Frank says he could imagine Krisha living in a luxury hotel. Krisha could see herself living and working at a rustic motel or bed and breakfast. Frank doesn’t recall many dreams. He thinks he may have recently finished solving a crossword puzzle while he slept.

While he was awake at 4:00 a.m., he responded to a text from Krisha. Krisha keeps her phone permanently on vibrate. Frank usually keeps the phone’s ringer on in case his wife calls. His iPad rings with a FaceTime call from his daughter.

Krisha & Frank interview Miss Knoxville Teen USA Katelyn Fedrick via FaceTime. She is going to compete at Miss Tennessee Teen USA in March. Katelyn’s campaign is called Keeping All Troops Encouraged (K.A.T.E.). She sends handwritten thank-you cards to military veterans. She recently won a Teen Board award for her community service.

Katelyn is organizing a fundraiser to pay for the fees to compete in the Miss Tennessee Teen USA pageant. She will sell hot cocoa bombs and other sweet treats for Valentine’s Day. Another option is to donate $5 to get listed in Katelyn’s ad in the pageant program.

082 - Frank It to 11

Krisha still hasn’t replaced her windshield wipers. Before she got the car, some woodland creatures and some wasps had nested in it. She might get the wipers replaced when she gets her oil changed.

Frank is reminded of getting an oil change and new wiper blades in Rapid City, South Dakota. Krisha would like to visit the Corn Palace in South Dakota. She is thinking of taking a solo trip to Denver for her birthday.

Several years ago Frank went to the South Dakota Hall of Fame to see their Pat O’Brien exhibit. The exhibit was not on display but the staff went to the back and retrieved the items O’Brien had donated so that Frank could take a picture with them.

Krisha says Frank has a certain energy about him that causes people to react positively to his enthusiasm. They realize that sometimes he “Franks it to 11.”

081 - Chill Factor

Krisha watched an old YouTube video of Frank. She noticed that Frank would sometimes tap his fingers and then try to stop himself. Generally, Frank is able to stay still on camera, while Krisha moves around.

Krisha was telling a friend that Frank is not an emotional person but if you know him well enough, you could see where his emotions would be if he expressed them.

Krisha points out that Frank is one of those people who plans out every moment of his vacations. He had a free one-hour pontoon boat rental and made sure to return the boat after 59 minutes to avoid paying for another hour.

080 - Beware of Falling Prices

Krisha’s social media hiatus has inspired Frank to cut back his time on Facebook. He finds himself watching more YouTube videos. Krisha watches a YouTube series called You Suck at Cooking, which reminds Frank of the chuck roast he and his wife Jere cooked on Sunday.

They started cooking the roast too late in the day. It was mostly cooked by 10:00 p.m. Jere sat up with the crock pot until 11 o’clock. Frank broke a fancy Pampered Chef corkscrew while trying to open a bottle of red wine for the pot roast recipe.

Frank recalls using a plain corkscrew as a child when his parents asked him to open their wine. Krisha recalls a time when she was 15 and a cop called and asked her to pick up her mother from a bar.

Krisha has some bruises on her face. Frank thinks she has done a mortician-quality job of covering it with makeup. A wooden wall hanging hit her in the head. When she was a kid, she got hit by a number falling from a gas station’s price sign.

Frank thinks the wall hanging should have been better secured. In California, Jere would use earthquake tack to keep objects from falling.

079 - Raw Pumpkin Language

Krisha thought she was getting a call from her kids’ school system but it turned out to be a spam call about car warranties. Krisha’s car is so old it doesn’t have a warranty.

Krisha noticed that Frank’s wife has been taking his car to work. Frank needs to get a job in order to buy a better car for Jere. His favorite mechanics only work on Hondas and Toyotas.

Krisha enjoys house-sitting and dog-sitting for Jack Dog and Sophie. Krisha used to have a dog with bad gas. Feeding the dog raw pumpkin solved the problem. Frank gets a tad irritated by a website that claims to have recipes for raw pumpkin.

Frank received a professional microphone as a gift. He needs to send a picture of himself with it to the friends who gave him the microphone.

078 - Skivvies and Scarves

Krisha bought her first pair of mom jeans. Frank thinks they shouldn’t be called mom jeans if she bought them from the juniors department.

Frank’s wife Jere heard scratching late at night. She was worried that it might be a mouse. Frank looked outside their bedroom and saw a raccoon on the balcony. Krisha once heard scratching in the wall of a cabin in North Carolina.

Frank tried wearing a scarf to bed. He used to mock scarf guys but has recently discovered the benefits of wearing a scarf around the house during the winter. He also learned he can’t brush his teeth while wearing a scarf.

Krisha thinks she looks like a librarian today. Frank says she’s “very Zooey Deschanel.” Krisha used to have an alter ego on social media because of getting in trouble for an album cover she posted on Twitter.

Krisha deleted all social media traces of a former relationship and a former job. Frank removed himself as a Facebook admin for a former job, which is a good business practice.

Krisha is taking a break from social media. She normally would look at Twitter when major news breaks but chose to text Frank instead. Frank wasn’t watching the news, so his reaction was more general, saying that each side seems to not understand the way the other side thinks.

Susan Seals from BoneZones.com dropped off some pots and pans for Krisha. Frank made loud clanging noises near the microphone and he will have to edit them out. The kitchenware belonged to Bonnie Monday’s mother, who passed away recently.

Frank’s daughter’s sister-in-law asked Frank for a sample of his late mother’s handwriting. She ordered a bracelet in the shape of the handwriting as a Christmas gift.

To celebrate Frank Jr.’s birthday, Frank found a frozen chocolate cake that was a gift from his late mom several years ago. It dried out a bit in the freezer.
